Written Examination: The written exam shall comprise of two papers, Paper-I and Paper-II. The subjects covered and exam pattern are given below:

  1. Mode of Examination: Online Computer Based Recruitment Examination (CBRE)
  2. Question Type: Objective type (MCQs)
  3. Paper-I Exam Duration: 3 Hours (180 Minutes)
  4. Paper-II Exam Duration: 3 Hours (180 Minutes)
  5. Negative Marking Scheme: There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in the written online exam.

Odisha Police Jr. Clerk Qualifying Marks

The minimum qualifying marks in the Written Test of each individual subject in Paper-I and II for UR & SEBC candidate is 35 and for SC & ST candidates is 30. There will be no relaxation in minimum qualifying marks for the candidates belonging to Special Category such as Ex-Servicemen, Sportspersons and PwD. Only those candidates, who obtain such minimum qualifying marks in the written test, as fixed by the Board, shall be called for Basic Computer Practical Skill Test.

OPMSSB Odisha Police Junior Clerk Syllabus 2024

Paper-I- Language Test (English and Odia) Objective and General Knowledge.

Syllabus for English and Odia Language Test (100 Marks)

  1. English Grammar including Verbs, Tenses, Modal, Active and Passive Voice, Subject-verb Agreement.
  2. Connectors, Types of Sentences, Direct and Indirect Speech, Comparison.
  3. Articles, Noun, Pronouns, Prepositions.
  4. Translation of Odia Sentences to English.
  5. Odia Grammer.
  6. Translation of English Sentences to Odia.

Syllabus for General Knowledge (100 Marks)

  1. Matching Historical events with dates, personalities and place.
  2. Geographical facts with places.
  3. States, Countries and Institutions with Headquarters.
  4. Books and Authors.
  5. Scientific facts and discoveries with dates, persons and uses.
  6. Current events with places and personalities and
  7. Matching questions of miscellaneous type.

Paper-II – Basic Arithmetic, Mathematics, Reasoning and Basic Computer Skills: Under this, there will be a series of questions in practical mathematics required for day- to-day use. The questions would be such as to test candidate’s ability to work out fractions, decimals, percentage and average with quickness and accuracy.

Syllabus for Basic Arithmetic, Mathematics, Mental Ability and Reasoning (100 Marks):

  1. Number System
  2. HCF & LCM
  3. Squares and Square Roots.
  4. Cubes and Cube Roots.
  5. Percentage and Averages
  6. Simple Interest and Compound Interest.
  7. Profit, Loss and Discount.
  8. Partnership.
  9. Ratio and proportion.

Mental Ability and Reasoning: The MCQ to test Mental Ability and Reasoning include as follows:

  1. Number Series
  2. Alphabet Series
  3. Test of Direction sense iv. Coding-decoding
  4. Number ranking
  5. Arithmetic reasoning
  6. Non-Verbal Reasoning etc.

Syllabus for Basic Computer Skill (Theory) (100 Marks): Multiple Choice Questions pertaining to:

  1. Computers: Office Automation Programmes like M.S. Word,
  2. M.S. Excel,
  3. M.S Power Point,
  4. Internet Windows,
  5. Email opening, sending etc.

Odisha Police Junior Clerk Basic Computer Skill Practical Test

Practical Skill Test on Computer (Full Mark: 50): Only those shortlisted candidates, who obtain minimum qualifying marks in the written test, as fixed by the Board shall be called for Practical Skill Test on Computer.

The Practical Skill Test on Computer shall also be of qualifying nature. The minimum qualifying mark in the Practical Skill Test on Computer for UR & SEBC candidate is 18 and for SC & ST candidates is 15. There will be no relaxation in minimum qualifying marks for the candidates belonging to Special Category such as Ex-Servicemen, Sportspersons and PwDs.

  • Windows Operating System
  • To test some of the following basic system operations on file / folders(s): Create, Rename, Copy/Cut/ Paste / Delete.
  • MS WORD:
  • Paragraph in MS Word incorporating some of the tools given below to be tested during the examination.
  • Editing and Formatting text and paragraph
  • Page and Paragraph set up
  • Inserting pictures and Word Art.
  • MS POWER POINT:
  • A power point presentation with 2/3 slides using some of the tools given below to be tested during the examination.
  • Editing and Formatting slides.
  • MS EXCEL:
  • A problem in spreadsheet related to some of the tools given below to be tested during the examination.
  • Formatting cells and data
  • Functions & Formulae (Relative, Absolute and Mixed reference).
